Day 22 - Sunday 10th December

VHF Short Range Radio

This training took place at Red Ensign, the same venue as our previous Diesel Engine Maintenance course. We were taken through the radio channels used at sea and the correct calling procedures, such as making a Mayday call. The classroom was kitted out with radio sets that we could practise on, although unfortunately not all of them seemed to work. However, I still feel I learnt quite a bit - including the International Radio Operators alphabet! And I feel more confident about the possibility of having to make a Mayday call.
